Sneyd Park Reserves seal Division Two title triumph

SNEYD Park Reserves clinched the Downs League Division Two title with one game to play.

A 4-1 victory against Sporting Greyhounds Reserves, coupled with a 2-2 draw for title rivals Torpedo Reserves against relegation battlers Phoenix Down, assured Sneyd’s second string of the crown. Gareth Browning (2), Nigel Halligan and Ben Wright scored for Sneyd, with Matt Mead on target for Greyhounds.

Third-placed Saints OB Reserves ended their league camppaign with a 2-0 win against Evergreen Athletic, thanks to goals from Reuel Kissoon and James O’Reilly.

NCSF United won 3-2 against Clifton St Vincents Reserves.

Saints OB, the Division One champions, lost 4-1 to runners-up Sneyd Park, for whom Alistair Stuart scored all four goals. Elliot Lake struck for Saints.

Tom Calloway’s double gave thirdplace­d Torpedo a 2-1 win against

Portland OB, whose goal came from Harry Crane.

Ashey finished bottom following a 6-2 defeat by Sporting Turin, while two goals from Kez NicklessMo­oney guided Clifton St Vincents to a 4-0 success against Sporting

Greyhounds.

The Division Three title will be settled this Saturday with leaders Torpedo A needing a point against Ashley Reserves to take the honours, and that will only be the case if second-placed Saints OB A beat Helios.

Last Saturday, Torpedo A defeated Helios 5-2, while Saints OB A had a crushing 13-1 success against Ashley Reserves, with James Burling and Matthew Ellis both scoring four times. Brian Taylor also hit a hat-trick.

Retainers Reserves stayed on course to win the Division Four title with a 4-3 victory against Sneyd Park B on Tuesday night.

Second-placed Saints OB B, four points behind but with a game in hand, overcame Torpedo B 2-0.
