Stores issue recalls on a host of products

- By JAMES HIND AND JOSEPH WILKES editorial@burtonmail.co.uk

SUPERMARKETS have issued recall notices on a list of products ranging from orange juice to cereal.

Errors can often occur during the manufacturing process that result in products needing to be recalled.

The latest list contains concerns regarding listeria and allergy safety concerns.

And another product has been found to contain pieces of metal.

If you have any of these products, do not consume them – but take them back to your nearest store for a full refund.

Here is the full list:

Lidl is recalling Freshona Chopped Tomatoes with Basil because the product may contain pieces of plastic, making it unsafe to eat.

Sainsbury’s croissants

L327NDB

All-butter croissants are being wiped from the shelves of Sainsbury’s supermarkets due to an almond filling not declared on the packaging.

An urgent product recall will mean that people who have bought these pastries will need to return them to the nearest store, immediately.

A statement from the Food Standards Agency said the croissants concerned are those from the in-store bakery which come in single and double packs.

It is feared those with a nut allergy may eat the product without knowing what is inside it.

A statement said: “This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts.

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to nuts, do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

In the first instance, check the packet for codes 6542882 and 6543827.

Cheese sold at Tesco

All batches of Boksburg Blue Cheese have been recalled from Tesco stores because it has been made without approval.

The cheese, produced by Carmarthenshire Dairy Products Ltd, was sold in a small number of Tesco stores around the country.

Notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling this product. Customers are advised not to eat the cheese and to return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Organic almonds

Tesco is urgently recalling a batch of its Organic Almonds due to the presence of salmonella.

The nuts come in a resealable seethrough plastic pouch, and have a green Organic logo on the front.

If you have bought the almonds, do not eat them, and instead return them to your nearest store for a full refund.

You will not need a receipt to return them.

The almonds come with the batch code L8004010, which can be found on the back of the packet.

Shoppers can use Tesco’s store locator to find their nearest one.
