Duo are looking for happy ending

-

JAMES Ellison and Shaun Winfield are aiming to finish a difficult Bennetts British Superbike Championship on a high note.

The Anvil Hire TAG Racing duo are heading for Kent to race in the final round of the season, a triple header at the Brands Hatch GP circuit.

Last year, Ellison collected two podium places in the final round, securing two third places.

The former MotoGP man has now found a much-improved feeling on board his machine and is expecting to collect more silverware to end 2018 in style as he celebrates his 250th BSB race on Sunday afternoon.

“We have one aim this weekend and that is to end the season on a high,” said Ellison.

“Podiums are what I always expect and I’m expecting that this weekend.

“Brands is a great circuit, one where I’ve had much success at before and, with the improved feeling we found at Assen in the previous round, I know I can repeat that this weekend and be back at the front, challenging for the win.

“This year has been difficult and as team we haven’t achieved the results I expect or the team employed me to collect.

“The changes we have made have helped in such a positive way and, with the undulations that the Brands Hatch GP circuit provides, I know we can be a pest all weekend to those battling for the title.”

well from a bruising weekend in Assen and has set his sights on ending 2018 in the points. The 25-year-old has enjoyed his best British Superbikes campaign, collecting three points, and is expecting to add to his tally at his favourite circuit on the calendar.

“I can’t wait to get out racing this weekend,” said Winfield.

“Assen was tough for us, we headed into that weekend with new suspension and it took us time to get that dialled in.

“But we now have some good data to start from at Brands Hatch.

“Brands is a great track for me, it has everything you want as a rider. The fast and flowing section is fantastic and it really suits our bike. “I want to end this year in style.” JG Speedit Kawasaki rider Leon Haslam is the clear Championship leader going into the final round with 654 points and favourite to claim the crown.

Burton-born Peter Hickman is fifth in the standings on 549 points.
