THERE is not long left to get those bouncing bundles of joy in front of the camera to be in with a chance to be named Burton Mail Baby and Toddler of the Year.

It is that time of year once again for parents to get that perfect picture of their little one for Burton’s most popular baby and toddler competition. But there is not long left to be in with a chance of taking home a share of £the 1,000 prize money.

The last photograph sessions have been taking place this week, with the final day on Sunday, so there is still time for readers to take their little ones down to one of the free sessions, which are held daily in Coopers Square shopping centre in the town centre. The last session will be at 3.30pm on Sunday.

All entries will feature in a souvenir supplement in the Burton Mail next month. Then voting begins to find the finalists.

From the finalists there will be four category winners and each will receive a cheque for £200, as well as the overall winner – chosen by a judging panel. The overall winner will receive a further £200 and the coveted title of Burton Mail Baby of the Year.

There are also daily spot prizes of children’s toys and pampering treats up for grabs this year. All parents have to do is attend one of the free photo sessions and they could be picked as that day’s lucky winner.

Photographer Andrea Powell said: “It has gone fantastically as it is always really good in Burton.

“Burton loves the baby competition and we have the most beautiful babies.

“We hope to match the number of entries we had last year with around 350 to 400 babies taking part. Baby of the Year is free to enter and there is a chance to win a cash prize.

“You have nothing to lose by coming down to have a picture taken and you don’t have to book a studio and pay their prices.

“Parents can also buy the photographs with prices starting from £14, which would make great Christmas presents.

“We have little Christmas hats and outfits for them to dress up in as well.

“They would also make great Christmas cards with the hats on.”

If parents fall in love with the photo of their little one, full professional portrait packages are also available to buy.

Any parents or guardians within the Burton Mail circulation area can enter their child as long as they are five or younger (and have not reached their sixth birthday by the date of entry).

All pictures will be published in a special supplement of the paper that is planned for Tuesday, November 20.

Entries will be divided into four age categories, which are zero to nine months, 10 to 18 months, 19 to 35 months and three to five years old.

The winner from each category will win £200, with the overall winner bagging an extra £200 and the Baby of the Year 2018 title.

Burton Mail readers will vote for their favourite picture, and the children with the most votes will all appear in a top 40 supplement.

A judging panel will then decide the winners of each category.
