A POPULAR food delivery service that would see McDonald’s delivered right to your door is being rolled out in Burton.

Uber Eats is available in hundreds of cities across the country – and has now increased its offering in Staffordshire to include Burton and Stafford.

Hungry residents in the area can download the app, browse a number of fast food and restaurant menus and have grub delivered straight to their doorstep – including a Big Mac and fries from McDonald’s.

Uber Eats is the food delivery arm of ride sharing company, Uber.

The food app uses the same technology as the driving side, allowing people to track their order as it is on it’s way, as well as paying and tipping drivers by using their phones to transfer money, avoiding the need for cash.

Cuisines ranging from Asian to Italian are listed on app, which can be downloaded on iOS and Android now.

Currently included on the Uber Eats app for the Burton area is McDonald’s, Helen’s Bakehouse and Tearoom, Verde Cafe, Grill and Roti, Peri Delicious, Frankie & Benny’s, Bella Italia, Pizza Base, Grill 2 Go, Grillaz and Jee Ja Jees.

Franchise owner of the Burton McDonald’s restaurants, Sarah McLean has welcomed the move.

She said: “My restaurant teams and I are delighted to be introducing the McDelivery service to Burton, offering yet another level of convenience to our loyal, local customers.

“Delivery is something that our customers often ask about so it’s exciting that we’re now able to provide our freshly made, great tasting food in a way that suits their busy lives.” Toussaint Wattinne, the general manager of Uber Eats in the United Kingdom, told of his surprise at the popularity of the app elsewhere in Staffordshire, having already been rolled out in Stoke.

Mr Wattinne said: “We have been blown away with how popular the app has been in Stokeon-Trent so we’re really excited to be expanding further into Staffordshire.

“People can now get great food at the touch of a button delivered straight to their home or office.

“We have partnered with plenty of restaurants, so we hope there will be something for everyone’s tastes.”
