Clarke: We’re conceding too many late goals

-

BRISTOL Rovers manager Darrell Clarke says another last-gasp defeat for his side could be down to a confidence issue.

The Pirates suffered a second successive stoppage-time defeat, having been beaten 1-0 at Walsall last weekend, courtesy of Kieron Morris’ effort in the 94th minute.

It leaves Clarke’s side in the third-tier relegation zone and they have failed to score in their last four outings.

“It’s certainly deja vu from our perspective and it’s a very low changing room, as you’d expect,” said Clarke.

“Effort, commitment, the non-negotiables were good, the quality was not and then we got done at the end like last week.

“I’m the leader, I take full responsibility for where we are in the League, but the only way you do it is by being positive as much as you can.

“The lads will be back on the grass, we’ll get working hard on our insufficiencies, keep going.

“It’s not always going to be a bed of roses, this game, is it? As a football manager, I’ve done it a lot of times to a lot of teams over the last two years and we’re having to take our medicine at the minute.

“The number of points we’ve dropped in the last 10 minutes this season has been way too many.

“A lot of that comes down to confidence and belief – I’ll keep trying to instill that into my players.”
