Body is that of missing pensioner

Officers began a search for the 76-year-old on Friday after she went missing from her home in the village the day before.
Yesterday, police confirmed that a body found in Station Road, Barton, is that of the pensioner.
Several emergency service vehicles were near the marina at around 7pm on Friday, according to people in the area at the time.
At 10pm that night police said the search had been called off after they found the body and now it has been confirmed it was the missing woman.
A spokesman said: “Staffordshire Police can confirm that it was Mary McNamee. Her body was found near to Station Road in Barton under Needwood.”
The spokesman added that officers investigating the death are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.
Her family has been informed and was being supported by specialist officers.
Business owners at nearby Barton Marina have told how they have been left shocked and saddened by the news, with many wanting to pass their condolences on to the woman’s family.
Vivienne Walsh, who runs The White Stuff clothing shop, said: “It’s awful news what has happened. I only found out about it last night but it’s terrible.
“I don’t know what might have happened. It’s so tragic and I’m thinking of her family.”
Meanwhile, a member of staff at Butcher Baker farm shop said: “We’re thinking of the family. It’s awful news – how tragic.
“She could have been a customer for all we know. Hopefully the family will find out what happened soon.” Anyone with any information that could help the investigation is being urged to contact Staffordshire Police on non-emergency number 101, quoting incident number 158 of October 12.
