Castle gala day proved to be a hit with village crowd

TUTBURY Castle was the picturesque setting for a busy gala day in September 1982.

The annual Tutbury gala enjoyed good weather as the day’s proceedings kicked off with a parade of marching bands through the village before they made their way to the castle grounds.

The day’s gala queen was 13-year-old Vicki O’neil, of Wakefield Avenue.

Attractions on the day included gymnastic displays, horse riding, a fun fair and music from the Tutbury Band.
