Sibley misses June prize
LOUIE Sibley’s first career hat-trick was not enough to earn him the Sky Bet Championship player of the month award for June.
The Derby County teenager produced some impressive performances last month, with the highlight his superb three-goal display in the 3-2 win at Millwall. He also added an assist as Derby saw off Reading.
However, the 18-year-old was pipped to the prize by Charlton Athletic defender Jason Pearce, who helped his side keep three clean sheets last month and scored a vital winning goal against Hull City to boost the Addicks’ survival hopes.
Swansea City striker Rhian Brewster and Luton Town goalkeeper Simon Sluga were also nominated.
Better news for Sibley was that his red card, handed out in the 2-0 defeat away to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday, was overturned on review, meaning he will be available for Derby’s clash with Brentford today.
■BRENTFORD’S exceptional form since the restart has earned their boss, Thomas Frank, the Sky Bet Championship manager of the month award.
The Bees took three wins out of three without conceding a goal in June, including victories over Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.
