Bielik: It’s going well and I’m closing in on return for Rams
DERBY County’s Krystian Bielik is eyeing a return to first team action after taking a major step forward in his return from serious injury.
The Rams’ midfielder, who only signed from Arsenal last year, suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in January, stopping his career in its tracks.
But the 22-year-old midfielder, who can also play in central defence, insists he is now closing in on a return as he steps up his rehabilitation from the injury he suffered in an Under-23s fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.
“I’m nearly there,” he said, speaking to Ramstv. “I’m back with the team in training.
“The knee feels great. Today, for example, I woke up and my knee feels like I never had surgery.
“I knew that it would be a good day and it was a great day.
“It was great training with the team and it was a lot of possession stuff and my knee felt fine.
“When I watch matches from the stands, I feel like I want to be on the pitch and help the lads. I’m looking forward to being back.
“I’m still making myself stronger and stronger and when the time is right, I want to be ready to go on the pitch, be ready and fight for the team and myself.
“It’s been a long journey but I’m stronger already and I’m almost there.”
Bielik has made 21 appearances for Derby since signing from Arsenal in August 2019, while he also has three senior caps for Poland.
Meanwhile, there is fresh speculation about a possible loan return to Derby for Harry Wilson.
The Liverpool winger has been omitted from their 25-man squad for the Champions League and there are only 11 days until Premier League clubs have to do the same for the League.
Burnley were apparently close to sealing a move for Wilson but failed to match Liverpool’s valuation – now the plyer could again be heading for the Championship on loan.
