Tractor Boys still unbeaten at the top

IPSWICH Town are back on top of League One, after beating Blackpool 4-1 away.

They had seen Hull City lose their 100% record with a 4-1 defeat to Fleetwood Town on Friday night and took the lead at Bloomfield Road through a Luke Chambers volley after 16 minutes.

Winger Gwion Edwards doubled the lead and Teddy Bishop added a third just before the break.

Gary Madine pulled a goal back for the home side on the hour but Edwards got his second 10 minutes from time.

Lincoln City’s 100% start was also ended as they lost 2-1 at home to Burton Albion’s next opponents, Bristol Rovers.

Lincoln looked to be on course for a fifth straight league win when Lewis Montsma put them ahead just after half-time but James Daly headed Rovers level almost immediately and Brandon Hanlan converted a 60th-minute penalty to make it 2-1.

Sunderland are the only other unbeaten team in the division but were not in action on Saturday owing to international call-ups

Gillingham beat Oxford United 3-1. Two goals in four first-half minutes from Vadaine Oliver and Jacob Melli set the Gills on their way and though Oxford scored three minutes after the break through Dan Agyei, Jordan Graham’s close-range volley sealed the points.

Defender Nathan Thompson’s first goal for Peterborough United put them ahead after 33 minutes away to Northampton Town and Reece Brown’s late effort sealed a 2-0 win.

The Brewers are being kept off the bottom of the table by MK Dons, who lost 2-1 away to Portsmouth despite former Burton midfielder Scott Fraser scoring his first goal for the Dons, a penalty.

Pompey captain Tom Naylor, another former Brewer, had headed Pompey in front after two minutes and what proved to be the winner came after 23 minutes with an Ellis Harrison penalty for the home side.

Accrington Stanley came from behind to beat Rochdale 2-1. Defender Jimmy Keohane put Dale ahead after 54 minutes. Joe Pritchard equalised 10 minutes later when his cross dropped inside the post and, two minutes later, Jonathan Russell fired the winner.

Crewe Alexandra saw off Wigan Athletic 3-0 at Gresty Road. They were two up at half-time through Luke Offord and Harry Pickering, then Mikael Mandron tapped in a third after an hour.

A first-half goal from Joe Pigott was enough for AFC Wimbledon to win 1-0 away to Swindon Town.
