JASON BOURNE Tonight, Channel 4, 9pm

DIRECTOR Paul Greengrass breathed new life into the spy thriller genre with The Bourne Supremacy in 2004. Three years later he re-teamed with Matt Damon for The Bourne Ultimatum. While Jeremy Renner did a good job with spin-off The Bourne Legacy, Damon’s Bourne and Greengrass reunited in 2016 for this slick, explosive thriller. The eponymous ex-government operative has been in hiding for a dozen years after exposing a sinister CIA operation. However, he is soon hunted down when a former CIA operative gone rogue acquires top secret informatio­n – including details of Bourne’s father’s involvemen­t in a covert scheme.

LOVING Tomorrow, BBC2, 10pm

THIS drama tells the true story of two courageous souls from 1950s Virginia, who defied a law that criminalis­ed interracia­l marriages. Forbidden from tying the knot in their home state, Richard Loving and Mildred Jeter (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga, pictured) drive to Washington DC and return with a marriage licence, only to be arrested, and their case attracts the interest of a civil liberties lawyer.

A QUIET PLACE Monday, Film4, 9pm

HORROR thriller. Dad Lee Abbott (John Krasinski), his wife Evelyn (Emily Blunt, pictured) and their three children live in fear of sightless otherworld­ly creatures, which hunt by sound. The Abbotts communicat­e via sign language, but soon tragedy strikes. More than a year later, Evelyn is heavily pregnant, and a newborn baby’s cries could draw the hunters to their provision-stocked hiding place

GOLDENEYE Tuesday, ITV4, 8pm

IN HIS first appearance as 007, Pierce Brosnan (pictured) embarks on a death-defying mission involving a trip to Russia where he must locate the source of a new satellite designed to destroy the world’s electronic devices. Naturally there’s a nefarious villain (Sean Bean) and, in the tradition of Pussy Galore, a vixen (Famke Janssen) out to tempt him or crush him between her thighs of steel.

THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH Wednesday, Film4, 4.30pm

ALFRED Hitchcock directs the remake of his own 1934 thriller, with James Stewart and Doris Day (pictured together), taking on the roles of American couple Ben and Jo, who are holidaying in Morocco when they witness a murder. With his dying breath, the victim tells Ben about an assassinat­ion due to take place in London – but before they can warn the authoritie­s, their son is kidnapped.

A STAR IS BORN, Thursday, BBC4, 8pm

THIS classic Hollywood tale stars Judy Garland (pictured) as struggling singer Esther Blodgett, who catches the eye of fading matinee idol Norman Maine (James Mason). He gets her a contact with a film studio – which renames her Vicki Lester – and her star is soon on the rise. The more successful she becomes, however, the more Norman struggles with alcoholism and his waning career.

Friday, ITV2, 9pm

NERVE-JANGLING adaptation of the Stephen King novel. In June 1989, seven tormented pre-teens bond as the Losers’ Club. The younger brother of the club’s stuttering leader, Bill Denbrough (Jaeden Lieberher), was dragged into a storm drain by Pennywise the clown (Bill Skarsgard, pictured) the previous autumn. Now Pennywise intends to divide and conquer the group by feasting upon their fears.
