Striker Ollie in frame for Dons debut

-

STRIKER Ollie Palmer could make his AFC Wimbledon debut against Burton Albion today.

He joined the Dons as a free agent in the summer after his Crawley Town contract expired but has not yet featured for his new club as he recovers from a groin operation.

And attacking midfielder Ethan Chislett also came through training on Thursday after missing the midweek 1-0 away defeat against Hull City due to concussion.

“Ollie will be in the squad,” said Dons manager Glyn Hodges.

“He came through training and he has had another week under his belt, so fingers crossed he will be in contention.

“Ethan is back as well after his concussion.

“We had to monitor that but he did non-contact training. I am sure he will be OK to be selected for the squad on Saturday.”

Hodges has called on his side to show a “nasty” streak at set-pieces against the Brewers today.

And although the Brewers are bottom of League One, Hodges is wary of the threat Jake Buxton’s side pose.

“Even though they are bottom of the league they can go on and win two or three and end up in the top half, so that’s the league we are in at the moment,” Hodges added.

“We just have to take care of business. We enjoyed it on Tuesday and we are enjoying our away

performances, probably more than at home at the moment but we know Burton are a good side.

“At the moment, there are some strange results out there. Having said that, we’ve been full value for every result that we’ve picked up.

“We just have to make sure we are better at set-pieces and become a nasty team in that department and learn from the lessons we received on Tuesday night.

“We just need to get that nasty streak in us and start getting some more points.”
