Join BBC and Mcfly to spread a little bit of charity Happiness

YOUR CHANCE TO RAISE SPIRITS (AND MONEY) BY GETTING INVOLVED IN CHILDREN IN NEED

TENS of thousands of radio listeners across East Staffordsh­ire and South Derbyshire are being asked to join a singalong with chart-toppers Mcfly to raise money for Children in Need.

BBC Local Radio - including Radio Derby - has teamed up is teaming up with Mcfly to create a special version of their hit Happiness.

All 39 stations across England are calling up on audiences to take part in the epic live singalong to help raise funds for BBC Children in Need.

A BBC spokesman said: “Whether you’re in a bubble at work or school or home with loved ones, or even on your own, anyone can join in for this big moment of happiness.

“To take part in The Big Bubble Singalong tune into your local BBC radio station at 10am on Monday, November 9. Then – along with everyone else in your Covid-19 safe bubble – sing along with the radio to Mcfly’s song ‘Happiness’.”

People are also being given the opportunit­y to appear on the TV a few days later.

To have a chance of featuring on the BBC’S Children In Need coverage on Friday, November 13, anyone taking part in the singalong should film themselves, in their bubble, and upload clips to the BBC Make A Difference website for the chance to be featured on telly as part of a video montage alongside Mcfly.

People can donate to BBC Children In Need on the same website and it is an opportunit­y to raise funds for children and young people facing disadvanta­ge across the UK.

Regional BBC TV News programmes and local radio stations will also share the uploaded clips on their social media platforms.

Listeners can also get involved on social media by sharing their clips using #bigbubble.

Ahead of The Big Bubble Singalong, Mcfly said: “We’re all so excited to be taking part. Happiness is an uplifting song which we hope will inspire and provide comfort to people during this difficult time.

“BBC Children in Need is a fantastic charity and we can’t wait to see the country singalong together to support vulnerable children and young people”.

Chris Burns, head of BBC Local Radio, England, said: “Nothing unites us like music and Mcfly’s Happiness is such a fantastic track. I can’t wait to hear and see everyone joining in from their bubbles. Let’s help raise lots of funds for BBC Children in Need.”

Tommy Nagra, director of content at BBC Children in Need, said: “It’s tremendous to have the collective spirit of BBC local radio come together for BBC Children in Need at such an important time. We hope that local audiences across the country will get involved to put the fun into fundraisin­g from the safety of their bubbles whilst raising money for the many thousands of children and young people we support.”

BBC Children in Need’s official 2020 fund-raising pack is also available to download now from the website below and is bursting with ideas ahead of the charity’s 40th Anniversar­y Appeal show on Friday, November 13.

To date, the British public has raised over £1 billion for children and young people across the UK and the charity is calling on people to once again show their support to help make a difference.

Across England, BBC Children in Need currently funds 3,056 projects to the value of £155,235,601.
