Drink-drive offenders in court

DRINK-DRIVERS are among people who have had their cases dealt with in the courts.

Also before the courts was one man who made threats and was driving a car on the roads when he should not have been because he was banned.

Other defendants included people caught with drugs - one with cocaine and another with cannabis, the court was told. They have all had their cases dealt with at Southern Derbyshire Magistrate­s Court.

Callum Roberts, 24, of Stubby Lane, Draycott in the Clay, admitted possession of 7.9g of cocaine in Burton on June 19. He has been fined £346 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £25 victim surcharge.

Deborah Salt, 44, of Station Road, Rolleston, admitted driving a Vauxhall Astra, in Derby Road, Burton, on March 31, with 56 microgramm­es of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgramm­es.

She has been fined £242 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge. She has also been banned from driving for 16 months.

John Butler, 32, of Twyford Road, Stenson, admitted using threatenin­g, abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour in Church Gresley on September 9. He also admitted driving a car in John Street, Church Gresley, on September 11, while banned from driving.

He was given an 18-week prison sentence which was suspended for 12 months after magistrate­s heard he had a poor record of previous conviction­s and compliance.

Butler must now complete 60 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to pay £85 court costs as well as a £128 victim surcharge. He has also been banned from driving for 12 months.

Daniel Wagstaff, 43, of Black Eagle Court, Burton, admitted driving a Citroen Berlingo, in Dallow Street, Burton, on November 22, with 178 millilitre­s of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of blood. The legal limit is 80 millilitre­s.

He has been fined £500 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £50 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for 24 months.

Nicholas Trueman, 40, of Alexander Road, Swadlincot­e, admitted possession of a small quantity of cannabis in Swadlincot­e on December 16. He has been made the subject of a 12-month conditiona­l discharge and was ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge.

Brian Page, 64, of Church Street, Coton in the Elms, admitted possession of a quantity of cannabis at his address on March 6.

He also admitted producing a quantity of cannabis. Page was given a 12-month conditiona­l discharge, and was also ordered to pay a £85 court costs and a £21 victim surcharge.
