A SOUTH Derbyshire beauty spot is back in the news after reports of fireworks being let off there after hours.

Foremark Reservoir, near Repton, hit the headlines in the summer after hundreds of visitors parked their cars on the narrow road there.

Now the venue in the news again, this time for issues with antisocial behaviour as people e have been spotted letting off fireworks reworks after the beauty spot has closed at night.

The behaviour is s causing concern for nearby residents and upsetting animals, police have said.

Officers from Hilton, Mercia and Melbourne safer neigh- bourhood team have ave been out at the reservoir ervoir site recently as part of f ongoing patrols.

A spokesman for the team said: “It may be the season of gunpowder, treason and plot but it does not justify acts of antisocial behaviour and noise nuisance.

“We’ve received reports of persons letting off fireworks at Foremark Reservoir after the venue’s closing time.

These unwanted illuminations are causing residents alarm and worrying animals in nearby fields.

“The team has been in the area as part of ongoing patrols.”

It comes as concerns have been raised that more and more fireworks will be let off in private gardens as many organised bonfire night events have been cancelled this year due to the pandemic.

These include the major events at Conkers, in M Moira, near Swadlincote, and that usually held at Alt Alton Towers theme park park.

B Both events usually at attract thousands of v visitors. During the summ mer at Foremark b bosses at the beauty s spot had to warn vi visitors they would be turned away if the venu venue was full – and that they n needed to check before settin setting off. Severn Trent, which runs Foremark Reservoir, near Repton, said at the time it wanted all visitors to enjoy a visit to the site but that social distancing measures needed to be in place.

There were issues with antisocial behaviour then after some visitors also left piles of rubbish which rangers had to clear up.

These unwanted illuminations are causing residents alarm and worrying animals in nearby fields.
