Jozwiak set to return for Rams against QPR
KAMIL Jozwiak is set to hand Derby County a boost ahead of tomorrow night’s Championship clash against Queens Park Rangers at Pride Park Stadium.
The Polish international winger missed the Rams‘ 1-1 draw away against Bournemouth on Saturday due to an ankle injury suffered late on in the last home game, against Cardiff City.
“Kamil had his final tests with the physios,” said Cocu.
“I spoke with him after the session, he felt really great and so on Tuesday he will join the team preparation for the game against QPR. So he will be available.”
Defender Mike te Wierik is also fit after he came off at Bournemouth because both calf muscles gave him a problem.
“It was just to protect him he had to come off. He can be pleased with his performance (against Bournemouth) and it will definitely give him a boost,” said Cocu.
Midfielder Max Bird was not in Derby’s 18 at Bournemouth.
“For a few days he was a little bit sick (non-covid symptons) and that is why he was not available. He trained today and felt much better,” said Cocu.
Jordon Ibe was not available for the Derby County Under-23 fixture against West Ham United last night.
The 24-year-old former Liverpool and Bournemouth winger has been feeling unwell.
“He was in briefly today for a check up with the doctor but it was decided he needs a couple more days,” said manager Phillip Cocu.
“He is not injured. It is similar to Max Bird (non-covid related symptoms) but not fit enough.
“I hope maybe on Friday, there is one more (under-23) game, so if he (Ibe) is fit enough to play, it is likely he will play in the under-23 game one more time. I expect after the international break he will be part of the first team.”
Ibe joined Derby as a free agent in September and has been building his fitness, having not played a senior game for more than a year.
He played 45 minutes in the last under-23 game against Southampton.
