Refunds route after collapse of school uniform shop

- By HELEN KREFT helen.kreft@reachplc.com

A SCHOOL uniform shop which closed suddenly amid claims some parents were left without refunds or their goods has gone into administration.

It was reported last month that Clothing 4 Schools, in Anglesey Business Park, Burton, was not open, leaving one parent, Eddie Young, without his son’s school blazer – and he said there were others like him.

He said his calls to the shop went unanswered when he tried to ring to collect the blazer, having paid by card.

He was later able to ring his bank to get his money refunded.

However, those who paid for school uniform with cash have now been given a way to apply for a refund. It has been confirmed that Greenfield Recovery of Birmingham was appointed as administrators for the clothing firm on October 27.

When asked by the Burton Mail how parents can claim a refund, a spokesman said customers can call or text 07554 614240 and leave either a voicemail or a short message with their details, name, number and order reference and someone will get back to them.

When the shop suddenly closed, a notice was put in the window asking customers with outstanding orders or collections to call a number provided.

Calls and emails made to the shop by this newspaper were not returned.

Mr Young said he had called Staffordshire County Council

Trading Standards department for advice and was told to contact his bank to get his money back.

A spokesman for trading standards said at the time that it was not investigating, adding that Clothing 4 Schools was still active according to Companies House, which lists all registered UK businesses.

On the Companies House website, Clothing 4 Schools is now listed as a “dormant company”, but the umbrella company, Clothing 4 Ltd, is active.
