Nominate your Covid Heroes who went above and beyond

WE’VE TEAMED UP WITH AMAZON TO RECOGNISE SELFLESS PEOPLE

- By LOUISE ELLIOT editorial@burtonmail.co.uk

IT has been an unprecedented year and one many will want to put behind them as the world battles the coronavirus pandemic.

We have seen our everyday lives change like never before as well as dealing with lockdowns, homeworking and social distancing in a bid to stop the spread of Covid-19.

For many it has been a year filled with heartache as they have seen loved ones die and become seriously ill due to this terrible disease. As we battle to stay safe and keep our families safe, all we can do is stick to the rules and stay steadfast and together we will get through this.

But in the midst of these testing and tragic times our communities have come together like never before as we are all determined to come out of this on the other side.

From our nurses, doctors and care workers on the frontline looking after patients with Covid, to the selfless families, neighbours and friends who have been there for the old and vulnerable who have been hit hardest by the pandemic. You all make us proud.

There kind acts, from picking up shopping for those who have shielding and isolating, to the brilliant shopkeepers donating food to food banks to feed those families who are struggling as thousands of jobs have been lost, have been truly humbling.

Over the past few months, the uncertainty and the anxiety has brought out the best in people and numerous communities closer together – none more so than in Staffordshire, where people have gone above and beyond to help others.

And they have continued to do so as we are in the midst of the second lockdown. Perhaps they are the kind neighbour who goes to the supermarket for you. Perhaps they are the care worker who visited you at home and always had time to chat, or perhaps they are the shopkeeper who delivers your groceries and checks you are okay. Whoever they are we want you to tell us – as they deserve some recognition.

As we head towards the end of 2020, we want you to join us in celebrating the very best of our local area and the people who stepped up when we all needed them the most.

We’ve teamed up with Amazon, whose own staff went above and beyond to keep deliveries going through lockdown, to recognise the Covid Heroes in our communities.

Did your local pub set up a takeaway service and drop dinners to isolating pensioners?

Did your neighbour run round picking up medical supplies and food for others?

Did the corner shop go out of their way to help people in need in your community?

Did your local school become a hub for the whole town?

Perhaps your local councillor went above and beyond to support your town, village or area?

Was there an NHS worker who became your hero in Covid? It’s really quick and easy to nominate your hero too.

It’s easy to nominate. All you have to do is find this story on our website and fill in the form. Go to www.stafford shire- live. co. uk/ news/ burton- news/ covid-heroes-amazonnominate-4660642
