Mystery benefactor decorates family home

IT’S A CRACKER OF A CHRISTMAS DISPLAY, BUT YOUNG FAMILY HAVE NO IDEA WHO HUNG UP DECORATIONS

A DERBYSHIRE family have been left baffled after a mystery benefactor showered their home with Christmas decorations and treats.

Alex Mahjouri and her family woke up on Sunday morning to find their house had been decked out with Christmas lights and fake snow.

After calling everyone they know, they were unable to figure out who was responsible for spreading the festive cheer.

Alex, from Castle Donington, said: “We honestly have no idea who did it. We’ve asked all our family and friends and no one is owning up.

“Everyone is adamant they know nothing at all about it and are finding it as hilarious as we are.

“No one else on my street has had anything like this happen to them!”

Since Sunday, the anonymous gift giver has brought new festive treats every night.

The family have received more decorations including Christmas bells and a giant inflatable nutcracker, as well as a Santa key and some Cadbury’s selection boxes.

Alex said her sons Forrest, four, and River, nine, were overjoyed to find out their house had become an unexpected winter wonderland.

She said: “My boys think it’s wonderful and are adamant that Santa or his elves keep coming every night.

“It has certainly provided many laughs and smiles in our house.”

Alex wanted to make it clear that she is thankful to whoever is responsible for the decorations.

She admitted it has provided a source of positivity in an otherwise difficult few months, and appreciated the early Christmas joy.

She said: “After a rubbish year, whoever this is is certainly keeping the cheer alive in our house.

“It’s brought much Christmas spirit and is a nice break from all the negativity in the world right now.”
