Our peek inside new coffee shop
BRANCH STAFF PUT FINISHING TOUCHES TO STORE FOR OPENING TOMORROW
THE wait is almost over for coffee lovers with Starbucks’ first drivethru in Burton about to open.
The signs are up and staff are ready to greet customers – but we managed to get a quick peek ahead of the official opening on Friday.
The coffee machines are in place and the drive-thru is ready for cars. Inside, the tables and chairs are ready for the first customers once restaurants are able to reopen, depending on Covid restrictions.
The store in Burton will open officially from 6am, with a “soft launch” at 10am today.
It will be opened in Wellington Road, next to The Range.
Claudio Aimeidi, the chain’s district manager, said: “Everyone is really excited to come into the new store.
“All the new machines are here and the team that are going to be working together. We also been getting positive feedback off people on Facebook.
“During lockdown we will be open for drive-thru and takeaway and if we don’t go into tier 3 people will be able to sit in.
“I think that it’s good to show to people that life goes on and we’re doing something good for the community as well to create more jobs.
“We’ve done a lot of interviews and many people had been made redundant so this gave them the opportunity to continue to be in employment. I would encourage people to come for a drink and to try our products. We aim to deliver great customer service, whether people are new to Starbucks or know it well.
“We welcome every type of person and it gives us the opportunity to show how good our customer service is.
“I think this location is quite busy and there are other businesses around that could benefit from us being around.
“There’s not many coffee shops around this area so it’s good for us and others around us.”
The team have been working at the Starbucks on the A38 near Barton under Needwood to get to know each other and train for the big day.
The new branch has taken on 12 new staff.
