THREE huge new industrial units are to be built in East Staffordshire because all other nearby premises are full and firms regularly contact the owners wanting to move there.

The units will be built on the Marchington Industrial Estate, which is on the edge of Marchington village and 10 minutes from the A50.

The property firm behind the project says it often gets requests from companies wanting to move there despite the current economic situation due to the pandemic and all other units on the industrial estate are full.

The new units will be between 5,000 and 7,000 sq ft and will include private yards.

Owners of the estate is Birminghambased property company Horton’s Estate Ltd, which has owned the site since 2003, and has seen its planning application given the green light by East Staffordshire Borough Cou Council. c .

The project is a speculative one as the firm does not currently have new tenants lined up for the new units.

Richard Walker, commercial surveyor at Hortons’ Estate Ltd, said: “As the estate has been fully let, these new units will provide much needed space for a wide variety of local businesses to expand into.

“Despite challenging market conditions we continue to receive regular inquiries and I’m confident that our ability to work closely with occupiers will ensure that demand for these units is high.

“The estate has always been seen as a cost effective solution for the wider area, and the close proximity to the A50 make it an excellent opportunity for the local businesses.”

The entire industrial estate comprises around 1.3 million sq ft of industrial and warehouse space, with warehouses ranging in size from 1,000 to 100,000 square feet.

Work has started on the new units and they are due to be completed in May ay next e tyea year. .
