Infections are continuing to go up across the area
NEW daily Covid-19 cases have been announced in East Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire.
It comes hours before the Government announced how severe Covid restrictions will be for each area.
Staffordshire, Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire have been placed in the highest Tier 3 level of restrictions.

A total of 3,369 people in East Staffordshire have had confirmed cases of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic – a rise of 57 in the latest 24 hours analysed.
The infection rate since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,813.3 per every 100,000 people in the borough. The population is around 118,000.
There have been four more deaths announced, so the total stands 181, at a rate of 151.1 in every 100,000 residents.
Across Staffordshire, the infection rate since the start of the pandemic is currently at 2,746.9, with 24,161 cases in total - a rise of 359.
There have been a total of 1,006 deaths in Staffordshire – a daily rise of 18 - meaning the county’s death rate is 114.4 per 100,000 people.
In South Derbyshire, there have been 35 new cases, with the total since the start of the pandemic now standing at 2,662 at an infection rate of 2,587.1.
There have been two deaths in South Derbyshire with the total number now at 104, meaning the death rate is 97.
The number of cases in Derbyshire now stands at 20,170 – a rise of 123 – and the infection rate since the start of the pandemic is now 2,512.8.
The number of deaths in Derbyshire stands at 839, a rise of 14, equating to 104.5 per 100,000 people in the county.
There have been 2,187 cases in North West Leicestershire – 26 of which were recorded in the last 24 hours – meaning the infection rate is now 2,110.8.
The death rate is 80.1, with 83 people having died within 28 days of testing positive. The latest numbers show one new fatality.
The latest figures for the UK, up to 4pm yesterday, show that there were 17,555 new cases of infections. There were 498 deaths.
