Rapid testing is being carried out at stadium
A RAPID coronavirus testing session is being held in Burton after it was announced the town will go into the highest restrictions after lockdown ends.
The testing session are at Pirelli Stadium, in Princess Way, from 9.30am to 1pm today, for people without symptoms of the virus.
In total, 100 places will be available and these need to be booked in advance.
A spokesman for Staffordshire County Council said: “Staffordshire has seen an increase in coronavirus cases over the past few weeks, and we all need to do everything we can to stop the virus in its tracks.
“One of the ways we can do this is by finding out how much the virus is circulating in the local community. We do this by testing people who aren’t currently showing any symptoms of Covid-19.
“We’re calling on you to help us with this work, by getting tested if you don’t currently have any symptoms. Testing is quick and free, and is taking place in your area.”
It comes after the Government announced yesterday that Staffordshire will have the highest possible restrictions when lockdown ends on December 2.
The town will be in Tier 3 due to the high number of positive test results across the county.
This also applies Swadlincote and Ashby in Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
Places must be booked in advance by visiting https://buff.ly/3kugtng.
People with symptoms of Covid-19 are told not to attend this testing.
They need to book through the national portal at https://buff. LY/2TZHKJK or by calling 119.
