Cases heard recently before our local magistrate­s courts

■ Jordan Bloor, 25, of Bob Southern Road, Church Gresley, admitted damaging a police van belonging to Derbyshire police in Derby on August 16. He also admitted possession of 1.17g of cannabis in Derby on the same day. He also admitted breaching a conditiona­l discharge. He has been fined £120 and ordered to pay £115 compensati­on, £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

■ Sophie Alcock, 21, of Malcolm Drive, Bucknall, Stoke on Trent, appeared at North Staffordsh­ire Justice Centre to admit stealing one Yankee candle and one Bluetooth speaker worth £45.98 from B&M Stores, in Newcastle under Lyme on June 15. She also admitted stealing unknown items from the same store on June 26. She has been ordered to pay £45.98 compensati­on, £135 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge, and was also made the subject of an 18-month community order with a rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t.

■ Darren Robinson, 26, of Coton Park, Linton, admitted using a Renault in Coton Park on March 2 without insurance. He has been fined £600 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending.

■ Jay Sugrue, 27, of Lymington Road, Torquay, Devon, admitted driving a car on the M6 southbound at Cannock on May 6, exceeding the 70mph speed limit by driving at 89mph. He has been fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

■ Defrim Peposhi, 23, of Keir Hardie Way, Essex, admitted driving a BMW in Uttoxeter otherwise than in accordance with licence and without insurance on November 1. He has been fined £120 and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six penalty points.
