Mum so pleased to get a lot of weight off her mind

NEED TO HAVE BEST POSSIBLE HEALTH IN THE PANDEMIC WAS PIVOTAL

A MUM of four has told how a wish to be as healthy as possible in the Covid pandemic gave her the impetus to start losing weight in earnest.

Gail Warburton, 47, from Tutbury, said when the first lockdown came, like a lot of parents, she did a lot more baking in the kitchen but lost focus of her own weight issue.

She said the key to her success in losing 3.5st, going from 15.5st to around 12st, has been joining Slimming World and utilising its famous food optimising plan, based on cooking more healthily.

Gail, a cleaner, said she was impressed after hearing how her boss Rachel Fowler, who runs Rachel’s Hair Design and Beckie’s Beauty in Calais Road, Burton, had lost weight after joining the organisation.

But she said it was during the first lockdown last year and the prominence given to the need for good health that finally led to her joining the organisation. She said: “Before I was at the top of the stairs and a bit out of breath, but now I can go up and down all day.”

She added: “I like baking and I have four children. As a mum, you tend to do the meals your children want, not the meals you want to do.”

Once she decided to join Derbyshire-based Slimming World, the pounds started to fall off. In the first week alone, she lost 5lb.

And she says her success in losing weight is rubbing off on her partner, who has become more interested in healthily prepared food and is starting to lose weight. Gail said she feels a lot better, physically and mentally, adding that all people need is normal, healthy food that, with Slimming World recipes, will see the pounds fall off.

She even said she was eating more than ever, but just healthy choices.

She praised Gina Meredith, her consultant at the Horninglow group, for helping her to lose weight: “Gina makes you feel wonderful. She motivates you for the next week.”

For the past two weeks, the Burton Mail has given away free Slimming World magazines packed with healthy recipes. Asked what her personal favourite was, Gail replied: “Beef curry.” But beef in red wine is also one she loves to rustle up.
