Over 900 across borough test positive for coronavirus over weekend
MORE than 900 people tested positive for coronavirus across Staffordshire over the weekend.
The latest Government figures recorded 935 new cases in the county, with 36 people dying within 28 days of testing positive for the virus.
The latest cases came between 4pm on Friday to 4pm on Sunday.
During the same period, there were 63,556 new cases across the UK, taking the total since the pandemic began to 3,647,463.
There were 1,958 deaths nationally, taking the total to 97,939.

EAST STAFFORDSHIRE
A total of 7,474 people in East Staffordshire have now had confirmed cases of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic - a rise of 165 since Friday.
There has been five more deaths announced, so the total stands at 308 since the pandemic began. The population of the borough is around 119,754. A total of 935 new cases were recorded across Staffordshire, including those in East Staffordshire, since Friday.
That means 48,400 people have tested positive in Staffordshire since the start of the pandemic.
In total, 36 more people have died since Friday across the county, meaning that a total of 1,848 deaths have been recorded in Staffordshire, all cases were within 28 days of testing positive. The population is approximately 879,560.
SOUTH DERBYSHIRE
There have been 104 new cases since Friday with the total since the start of the pandemic now standing at 5,671.
There have been two new deaths in the district, with the total number standing at 181. Its population is around 107,261.
In Derbyshire as a whole, there have been 38,505 cases, 819 of which have been registered since
Friday. Across the county, where the population is around 802,694, there have been 17 new deaths, meaning 1,353 people have died from the virus since February, last year.
NORTH WEST LEICESTERSHIRE
There have been 4,449 cases since the start of the pandemic, including 95 new cases since Friday.
A total of 155 people have died within 28 days of testing positive, with two new deaths recorded in the latest 24-hour period.
