PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: SALAZAR’S REVENGE Tonight, BBC1, 6.50pm

WILL TURNER’S son Henry (Brenton Thwaites) is searching for the mythical Trident of Poseidon. He meets plucky astronomer Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), who possesses a diary penned by Galileo Galilei containing clues to the object’s hiding place. The two join forces and unexpected­ly cross paths with Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). He is being pursued by spectral pirate Captain Armando Salazar (Javier Bardem), who has escaped from the Devil’s Triangle and intends to exact revenge, aided by Jack’s old adversary, Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush).

BUMBLEBEE Tomorrow, Channel 4, 4.30pm

OPTIMUS Prime dispatches recruit B-127 to Earth to establish a base of operations. During a skirmish he manages to transform into a Volkswagen Beetle before his circuits shut down. Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld pictured) salvages the car and is stunned to discover it a shape-shifting robot.

DOUBLE INDEMNITY

Monday, Sony Movies Classic, 6.45pm

BARBARA STANWYCK is the archetypal femme fatale in this film noir. She seduces Fred Macmurray’s (pictured with Stanwyck) hapless insurance agent into murdering her husband – and then plots to make sure he takes the blame. Director Billy Wilder and crime writer Raymond Chandler wrote the screenplay.

THE IMITATION GAME Tuesday, Film 4, 6.45pm

Nerve-shredding wartime thriller inspired by real events, with Benedict Cumberbatc­h, pictured front, outstandin­g as maths genius Alan Turing, tasked with cracking an ‘unbreakabl­e’ Nazi encryption code. His heroism is betrayed when the Government persecutes him for being gay. Keira Knightley also stars.

BREATHE Wednesday, BBC2, 9pm

THIS life-affirming biopic is powered by the performanc­es of Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, pictured, as a devoted husband and wife. Aged 28, Robin Cavendish was paralysed from the neck down. Given only three months to live, he survived to become a pioneering campaigner for those with disabiliti­es.

JAWS Thursday, ITV4, 9pm

It’s now nearly 46 years old, but Steven Spielberg’s first blockbuste­r has lost none of its bite. Roy Scheider heads the cast as Brody, a police chief on New England’s Amity Island whose relatively idyllic existence is turned upside down when a great white shark starts snacking on the locals.

SHAKESPEAR­E IN LOVE Friday, BBC1, 11.35pm

GWYNETH PALTROW, pictured, is on Oscarwinni­ng form as Viola, a young woman who yearns to be an actor – but the convention­s of the day dictate that only men are allowed on stage. Her luck changes when she meets young Will Shakespear­e (Joseph Fiennes), who is suffering from writer’s block.
