Injury to Kane is a concern for Albion

-

BURTON Albion face an anxious wait to find out the extent of the calf problem which caused striker Kane Hemmings to stay off the field at half-time against Hull City on Saturday.

Hemmings was replaced by Joe Powell, meaning a reshuffle for Burton, with Lucas Akins moving into the middle from the right flank.

A lot of the work Hemmings does up front goes unnoticed unless he scores – but not by manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

“He is an important player for us,” said Hasselbaink.

“I don’t know yet (how serious it is) but it’s something with his calf. We had to take him off.

“If he had stayed on it could have got worse so, hopefully, it is not too bad, fingers crossed.”

It seems likely Hemmings may miss tonight’s rearranged game away to Blackpool (7pm) but Hasselbaink will consider making other changes to Saturday’s line-up too.

He already had John-joe O’toole, Reece Hutchinson and Michael Bostwick unavailable but he will also be careful with some of his new players who have not played a lot of football lately.

“I need to look at a few players and see what we’re going to do because some have not played for a while and we’ll see how they react (to Saturday’s game),” he said.

“We might have to freshen things up.”

OVER the next six weeks, this special collectable photo series will explore what it was like to live, work and play in the East Midlands, from the 19th century to more recent decades.

Faces, places and moments in history are frozen in time in our unique picture archives, and putting this series together has turned up many images that haven’t been seen since the first time they were used in our pages.

Through them, we want to tell the stories of our communities, through good times and bad. Stories that show the long legacy of caring that we see continued today in the dedication and sacrifice of our NHS heroes.

Stories of familiar street scenes that show how much has changed in our neighbourhoods – and how much has not.

Stories of the fads and fashions, the music we listened to and the clothes we wore.

Each week we will look at a different aspect of life in the East Midlands over the years, focusing on themes as varied as fashion, the workplace, family life and transport.
