A BUNGALOW dating from the 1930s, which has undergone a major renovation is on the market for the first time in 25 years.

The detached property, in Alton, has four bedrooms, two reception rooms and four bathrooms set across two properties.

No.11 Battlesteads’ owners bought the property 25 years ago, where it was a ‘small, pebble-dashed bungalow with a peculiar layout’ but they’ve modernised the place to an ‘excellent standard,’ including the addition of an annex.

The ancillary was used for a relative, and has a garden room, hall, cloakroom, store room and study, which estate agents Fine and Country believe would make a great ‘work from home’ space.

The property agent said: “This superb property has been finished to excellent standards, offers flexible accommodation over two dwellings, making this ideal for working from home or an additional income.

The principle property offers three double bedrooms with ensuites/ shower rooms, recently fitted and modernised to a high standard.

The home is on the market asking for offers over £600,000, after selling for £104,000 in August 1995.

The seller said: “We completely gutted the property and reorganised the layout, as well as adding an annex and it’s worked brilliantly for us.

“There are plenty of things to do in the local area, including market towns to explore and National Trust properties to visit, as well as walks in the Staffordshire Moorlands, Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District. The Staffordshire Way is just across the road and Dimmingsdale is always a favourite place, especially in Spring when it is carpeted in bluebells. There’s a good sense of community here and everyone is very friendly.

“I’ve loved living in a bungalow as it’s really easy to look after. I shall be sad to leave and will miss the views across the Churnet Valley.”

Ground floor: Solid half-glazed entrance door leads us into this superb bungalow, central heating radiators, natural light well, loft access, remote-controlled double glazed Velux skylight with roller shutter and rain sensor.

There’s a new breakfast kitchen with a range of gloss units incorporating pan drawers, wine rack, double sink and drainer, plus a quartz worktop. Integral Neff appliances, a built-in Bosch electric oven, Gourmet Bosch combi oven, microwave and grill and two warming drawers.

Space and plumbing for washing machine and tumble-dryer, heated chrome towel rail, under floor electric heating, open countryside views and remote-controlled double glazed Velux skylight with roller shutter and rain sensor. The floor is tiled and has underfloor heating.

The sitting room and dining area are very light with open aspect offering panoramic views. Double doors out onto a terrace and bay window.

There are handcrafted built-in solid oak units with glazed display, drawers and cupboard space and a matching glazed book case.

The main bedroom is fitted with a range of units. A bay window to the side offers views over the garden. The en-suite has a Jacuzzi bath and, walk-in shower with digital controls.

The second bedroom has a range of fitted furniture and an en-suite. Bedroom three has views on two sides of open countryside while the family bathroom comprises a corner shower cubicle with double doors, underfloor electric heating and a natural light well.

Across the drive is an annexe, attached to a workshop and double garage. This has been finished to a high standard. From the storm porch you can access the workshop, garage and the annexe being used as the garden room/second sitting room with a feature log-effect stove and views over open countryside to three sides.

There is a room being used as an office which could be a bedroom with remote controlled Velux skylights with roller shutters and rain sensors. There is plumbing available for a shower to be fitted. A COLLECTION of “must-have” tech items to cure lockdown boredom – including incredibly rare Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X games consoles – are available at an auction house with a base near Burton.

The scarcity of the next-gen consoles have seen UK John Pye Auctions, which has a it West Midlands auction hub at Marchington Industrial Estate, bombarded with demand in recent months.

The auction house says the Playstation 5 is currently sold out across all major UK retailers including Amazon UK, Currys PC World and GAME, players hunting high and low to secure the new console.

However, John Pye Auctions is selling the rare games consoles on behalf of retailers, for who the auction house manages surplus and refurbished consumer tech stock through its John Pye Technical lab and warranty online auctions, holding more than 1,300 general online auctions a year for more than 400 clients.

It offers technical warranty and refurbishment services to commercial clients and also customers on selected products.

The auction house has seen its registered bidders grow exponentially during the lockdown to more than 510,000, with some of the biggest spikes in the last two weeks.

Business development director Sheldon Miller said: “We saw laptops commanding retail prices in the first lockdown as everyone migrated to working and studying from home.

“However, the demand for PS5S has been unprecedented in this third lockdown, and throughout the whole pandemic, with PS5S making up to £150 over the recommended retail price of £449. The scarcity and sheer mass market interest of the new model is driving such inflationary market movement; making their availability scarcer than Willy Wonka’s famed golden tickets from the old film classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as children, teenagers, parents, and gaming adults scour the market for any available units.”

This week’s John Pye online tech warranty auction includes a number of hard-to-find items that will keep you entertained through lockdown 3.0, including Playstation 5s, Xbox Series Xs, Sonos Generation 3 sub-woofers, Lenovo Think Pads and Nintendo Switch Lites.

There are seven PS5S included in this one auction, which is now running and will continue until Wednesday.

The lots still available to view re on the John Pye website.

John Pye says it is the first auctioneer to offer warrantied product auctions to the mass market.

All items are inspected and repaired by John Pye’s team of expert engineers to determine the length of the warranty – usually between two and 12 months.

David Harper, head of the technical division department at John Pye Auctions, said: “If you’re considering buying tech at auction then always look to see if it has a warranty – our John Pye warranty means that you can buy with confidence, knowing an expert team of tech engineers has checked the item over and it is in great condition.

“We are also now offering UK wide home delivery on all items in our lockdown warranty auctions, which run weekly.

“Buying tech and gadgets at auction usually offers the chance to get a great deal and save quite a bit of money. However, the scarcity of the PS5 is really driving the price up.”

All warranty auctions are now held solely online and items are delivered right to the winning bidder’s door, keeping in line with government guidance.
