TV FILMS OF THE WEEK
1
GOLDENEYE Tonight, ITV, 10.55pm
ONE of the best 007 offerings and a fine debut for Pierce Brosnan as the suave agent who attempts to stop old friend 006 from unleashing havoc with the aid of the eponymous weapon. Sean Bean is terrific as the bad guy, Famke Janssen steals the show as sexy assassin Xenia and Izabella Scorupco is a likeable heroine. Fine support comes from Alan Cumming, Robbie Coltrane and Judi Dench in her debut as M. Although the film raked in £350m worldwide the computer game adaptation made even more money. Well worth another look, particularly as the next film in the franchise, No Time to Die, has been postponed again.
2

BUGSY
Wednesday, Sony Movies Action, 9pm
FACT-BASED thriller. New York gangster Benjamin ‘Bugsy’ Siegel (Warren Beatty, left) is sent to LA to take over the West Coast rackets, where he falls in love with a glamorous starlet (Annette Bening). The film then centres on the gangster’s business venture to turn
Las Vegas into a gamblers’ paradise.
6
TREMORS Thursday, ITV4, 10.55pm
CULT sci-fi spoof starring Kevin Bacon (left) and Fred Ward as two handymen stranded in the desert who become targets for a family of giant sandworms. Yes it’s silly, and yes it’s tacky – most of the movie is played for laughs, rather than thrills – but some genuinely exciting moments help the story along.

STAN & OLLIE Friday, BBC1, 8.25pm
THIS charming biopic focuses on the latter years of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy’s partnership in the 1950s when they embarked on a music hall tour of Laurel’s native UK. Steve Coogan is outstanding as Laurel (pictured on the right, while John C Reilly is equally impressive as Hardy (also pictured).
