Village fly-tipping scourge

-

FLY-TIPPERS dumped rubbish and waste in a picturesque East Staffordshire village.

An alert was put out by Staffordshire Police about fly-tipping in Barton under Needwood last weekend, saying the force received multiple reports about the problem.

This was mainly reported by the parish council or through emailing the police.

Now anyone who sees someone fly-tipping is asked to report it to the police or East Staffordshire Borough Council with as much information as possible.

PCSO Timothy Leathers, of Staffordshire Police, said: “Over the weekend there have been multiple reports of fly-tipping in the Barton area. A large number of reports have been called in via the parish council or via email.

“If you see anyone fly-tipping, please report it to both the council and the police with as much detail as it is safe to do so.

“We have received reports of similar vehicle descriptions but no registrations at present.

“I am requesting any information with regards to this in an attempt to reduce the prevalence of fly-tipping.”

Anyone caught fly-tipping will be issued with a £400 Fixed Penalty Notice and could also face an unlimited fine and up to five years in prison if the case proceeds to court.

Anyone with information about fly-tipping is encouraged to contact the enforcement team at East Staffordshire Borough Council on 01283 508506, email community. civil_enforcement@eaststaffsbc. gov.uk or report it through the council’s website.
