Two men are at large from BMW after crashing into a wall

TWO men are still at large after they fled from the wreckage of their BMW after it crashed while being chased by police.

A total of four people were initially in the black BMW 1 Series M Sport when it hit concrete bollards along a grass verge in Uttoxeter on Thursday but two of them fled, police have said.

The incident happened on the

A522 New Road, travelling from Cheadle Road towards the junction with the A50 Uttoxeter Bypass at about 10.05am.

While two people escaped, officers from Staffs Police Road Policing Unit managed to arrest another two nearby. Both were then released after it was establishe­d that neither were the driver.

However, one of the two – a 21-year-old from London – is also under suspicion of having entered the UK illegally and was arrested for this. He was left in the custody of immigratio­n officials, said the spokesman.

Officers had to chase the BMW after the driver failed to stop when they were asked after saw the car driving dangerousl­y.

No damage was sustained to any other police or civilian vehicles in the incident.

The two men who fled the scene are described as white and of larger build.
