Covidiot driver gestured at the police

-

A MAN who stuck his middle finger up at police has been fined for breaking Covid rules.

The man was sitting in an Audi along with three other men, when he decided it would be a good idea to taunt a passing police car.

However, the officer inside did not take kindly to the gesture and pulled the the vehicle over to have a chat with the man who did it.

In the process, Swadlincote police safer neighbourhood team (SNT) found all four men were breaching Covid lockdown rules.

Officers made the three passengers walk home, while the man who made the gesture was given a Covid fine and warned about his behaviour.

In a post on Facebook, officers said they “love it when the community waves at us, but not in this way!”

They said: “PCSO Edwards and PC Holmes were attending

incidents across Swadlincote. A white Audi drove past and the passenger of the vehicle decided to stick his middle finger up towards the officers.

“PC Holmes immediately spun the vehicle around and alerted the vehicle to stop. Turns out the white Audi had four male occupants all breaching Covid lockdown rules.

“Three of the males were made to walk home and the offending male was given a Covid fine and warned about his behaviour.”

Officers also revealed the same on the same day that they seized a Renault Scenic in the town after spotting someone who was disqualified from driving behind the wheel.

They said: “Acting on Intelligence from our community that a Renault Scenic was being driven by a disqualified driver.

“An ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) hit alarmed officers PCSO Edwards and PC Williams who were patrolling the area. They located the vehicle with five minutes. The male driver tried to argue that he had a full license, a few checks later and this male showed as disqualified.

“Driver reported for summons and another vehicle seized.”
