ALTON Towers has now confirmed how it will reopen the theme park to visitors after the Government announced its road map out of Covid lockdown, and has said parts will be open to local people during the Easter break before fully reopening to the public.
The announcement follows latest Government guidance on the reopening of outdoor visitor attractions like Alton Towers in Staffordshire and hospitality businesses.
The famous gardens at the theme park near Alton will be the first to reopen to local families only each day from Monday, March 29, to Sunday, April 11. This will be the gardens only and the rides will not be running.
Under current plans, the theme park will resume operation, when the rides will reopen, from Monday, April 12, as well as offering selected self-contained accommodation to visitors.
Set among the resort’s 550-acre site and steeped in over 100 years of historical and eye-catching artefacts, the Alton Towers Gardens offer a beautiful spot for families to enjoy an enchanting stroll and picnic, said a spokesman.
Largely laid out over 150 years ago by Charles Talbot, 15th Earl of Shrewsbury and proprietor of Alton Towers, they were designed to ensure they held a surprise around every corner as visitors explored.
It is also anticipated the theme park’s much-anticipated latest attraction, Gangsta Granny: The Ride will open in the spring after April.
The ground-breaking, brand-new family attraction brings to life David Walliams’ most popular children’s novel.
The new experience will see guests join the main characters as they attempt the greatest heist in the history of the world: to steal the Crown Jewels.
Under current guidelines, a small number of indoor attractions will remain temporarily closed. However, thrill-seekers will still be able to enjoy roller-coasters such as Nemesis, Wicker Man, and Oblivion.
