Sub Jozwiak makes a big impact for Poland

-

DERBY County winger Kamil Jozwiak set up one goal and scored another as he made an immediate impact playing for Poland on Thursday.

He helped the Poles come from behind to draw 3-3 with Hungary in Budapest in their opening World Cup qualifier.

Hungary took a two-goal lead through Roland Sallai and Ádám Szalai before Poland coach Paulo Sousa, in charge for the first time, made a triple substitution before the hour mark in a bid to turn his side’s fortunes.

Jozwiak was one of those changes and, a minute later, he provided the cross for fellow substitute Krzysztof Piatek to reduce the arrears.

The comeback was complete a minute later as Jozwiak scored his second goal for his country.

The 22-year-old Rams winger was played through on goal and kept his nerve to roll the ball into the corner and equalise.

CHELSEA and England midfielder Mason Mount has explained how his loan move with Derby County helped him to develop both on and off the pitch.

The 22-year-old midfielder spent the 2018-19 season at Pride Park under the stewardship of Frank Lampard, who later followed him to Chelsea.

Mount played 44 times for Derby during the season, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists.

He returned to Stamford Bridge that summer and has gone on to

Poland fell behind again with just over 10 minutes remaining but Jozwiak was again involved as Sousa’s side found an equaliser for a second time.

He played a neat one-two on the right with Bartosz Bereszynski who establish himself as starter under both Lampard and now Thomas Tuchel.

Mount’s form for the Blues has led to a call-up to the senior England squad and he was in the starting line-up for Thursday night’s World Cup qualifier against San Marino.

Ahead of that game, Mount spoke about how his time at Derby, and the players who surrounded him, helped him to reach the level he is now at.

“I think going on loan is something that really helped me,” he said crossed for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski to score and the game ended 3-3.

Poland are at home to Andorra in Warsaw tomorrow, with Jozwiak pushing for a place in the starting line-up.

“Speaking to players who are older, experienced, have been in the game way longer than me at that young age, speaking to them, being around them, especially at Derby. That really helped me to make my game better and understand what football is about.

“It’s not just about on the pitch it’s off the pitch as a massive part of controlling how you can do on it.”

The midfielder has played 39 games for Chelsea this season, scoring six goals and providing six assists.
