New dementia facility will be a centre of excellence for the community

CONSTRUCTI­ON work is progressin­g well on a new dementia centre of excellence in Fradley bringing state of the art care, and new job opportunit­ies to the area.

Based off Bridge Farm Lane in Fradley, the multi-million pound developmen­t is owned and managed by social housing landlord and national care provider Accord.

Designed specifical­ly to meet the needs of people living with dementia, the new centre will provide 90 individual living spaces. It will consist of six households, each with a communal kitchen, dining area, lounge and access to gardens and outdoor space.

Each household will contain 15 en-suite bedrooms and Accord’s specialist team of carers will deliver personalis­ed and quality care and support 24 hours a day.

Maxine Espley, Accord’s executive director, care and support said: “We are delighted that work is progressin­g well to deliver this outstandin­g care facility for those living with dementia and those with complex needs.

As leaders in dementia excellence we have used our vast knowledge and experience to create this first-class facility bringing specialist dementia care to

Lichfield.”

The new dementia centre of excellence will also provide a boost to the local area through the creation of jobs for local people.

Maxine added: “The centre is creating 100 new jobs for the local community, which is particular­ly welcome news during a time when many have been impacted by Covid.”
