A BURTON crisis prevention charity gave away more than 300 Easter eggs and 100 gift bags to needy families.

The Loveinspire Foundation, based in High Street, was behind the initiative after collaborating with a Facebook group called Meal Ideas for Families.

The Easter eggs and gift bags were put together by Ann-marie Norton after she put out an appeal on her group. They were distributed by volunteers from the Loveinspire Foundation in time for Easter Sunday.

Monica Holton, founder of the foundation, said ahead of the distribution of the Easter gifts: “I approached Ann-marie who does a great job in supporting organisations like the Loveinspire Foundation. Easter is a very special day for us, and we want to keep spreading some joy and positivity to ensure the spirits of people are up and they have some happiness.

“We have been doing something like this every year since the charity formed in 2015, but I feel given the year everyone has had, there is a lot more emphasis on this year, due to the pandemic.

“As well as the Easter eggs, Annmarie and her group got together and collected 100 gift bags, donating toiletry essentials for the elderly and families in need.

“I was made aware that a lot of elderly people who have no family struggle to get basic toiletry items and, again, I cannot thank Annmarie enough for her work.

“I would like to thank St Chad’s Church, Carole and David Lambourne for their donations and, of course, all those who donated through Ann-marie’s Facebook group. A lot of credit needs to be given to the 30 volunteers we have

at the Loveinspire Foundation, who work for the sake of the community and help reach people who would be left unattended otherwise.
