ACTOR NEIL’S PUB GOES UP FOR LEASE

- By RICHARD CASTLE richard.castle@reachplc.com

A STAFFORDSHIRE pub run by a company owned by actor Neil Morrissey has been put up for lease.

The With Neil Morrissey Pub Company took on the mothballed Old Bramshall Inn in June 2018, revamping the interior and introducing a lavish new dining area.

The Line of Duty and Men Behaving Badly star turned up for a lavish press launch night featuring samples from the new menu and his signature Morrissey Blonde ale.

Punters told the Burton Mail at the time they were delighted to have their watering hole back.

Like pubs up and down the country, The Bramshall was forced to close for lockdown one in March 2020 - but it has not reopened since.

Now it has emerged the Stone Road establishment, owned by Star Pubs & Bars, has been put up for lease.

It is not clear whether or not the lease is to be sublet by the With Neil Morrissey Pub Company. When the Burton Mail called the pub, a staff member answered and said the pub was “closed” and “not trading”.

He said we should contact the With Neil Morrissey Pub Company, but was not authorised to give out any contact details.

The company has now been asked for clarification on the situation, but is yet to respond.

A spokesperson for Star Pubs & Bars said: “The Old Bramshall Inn, Uttoxeter, is leased to an independent operator to run as their own business. The pub has remained closed since March 2020.

“We cannot discuss private matters relating to the lease, but we are keen to see The Old Bramshall Inn back open and trading again as soon as possible.”

The advert for the lease, posted on the website of Nottingham-based agent Davey & Co’s website, says the Old Bramshall Inn achieved net sales of £585,000 for the year ending April 2020.

The lease for the pub, which has a capacity of 110 punters and an “exceptional garden and terrace” space, has a guide price of £95,000.

The Bramshall is described as a “sleeping giant of a pub” in a “great village” and “affluent catchment area”.

The With Neil Morrissey Pub Company’s other Staffordshire pub, the Plume of Feathers, in Barlaston, is open for business.
