Club’s thanks to Fleur for 25 years’ service

-

BURTON Albion commercial director Fleur Robinson received a special award from the club to mark more than 25 years of service at the end of season awards held via Zoom on Thursday night.

Fleur will be taking up a new role as chief executive of National League club Wrexham on June 1 and Sunday’s away game at Oxford will be the last of more than 1,450 matches since she joined the club at Eton Park in the 1994-1995 season.

Poignantly, she and her father, chairman Ben Robinson, watched the last home game of the season at the Pirelli Stadium last week together from the Pop Side.

At the awards night, Fleur was presented with an engraved cut glass rose bowl for Special Recognition for Exceptional Service to Burton Albion.

The chairman said: “Fleur is leaving the club to take up an exciting new challenge at Wrexham and we couldn’t let her leave without saying how much we appreciate all she has done for the club.

“When Fleur started in the 19941995 season, we were a small nonleague club in a small ground and all we had were dreams of what could be for Burton Albion.

“All these years later, we have seen this club move to the Pirelli Stadium, spend two years in the Championship, reach the Carabao Cup semifinals and deliver a massive community benefit week in and week out.

“It’s been an incredible time and Fleur has been instrumental in making all those dreams come true.

“She now leaves with our blessing, and our support.”

Fleur said: “I have loved every minute of working at Burton Albion and although I’m greatly looking forward to my new role, I will be very sad to leave so many great friends.

“The chairman has always been my inspiration and I will miss working with him, as well as all the tremendous staff and volunteers at the club, the community trust and the academy.

“I also want to thank all of our wonderful sponsors, partners and fans for their support over the years.

“It’s been a brilliant 25 years for Burton Albion and long may it continue.”
