Housebuilder invited to be a club member
DERBYSHIRE-BASED housebuilder Barratt Developments has been invited to become the Tommy Club’s first corporate patron through its relationship with the Royal British Legion Industries.
The housebuilder donated £100,000 as an acceptance gift and has purchased Tommy Club figures from the Royal British Legion Industries to help them raise money.
The Tommy is now a universal symbol of gratitude and commemoration to all those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.
The Tommy Club is a fundraising initiative launched by the Royal British Legion Industries which is a new and exciting way for people to support armed forces veterans.
Tommy Club aims to create a new community that will provide the best possible care for the deserving veterans of recent conflicts.
The funds raised through Tommy sales have helped to provide jobs, homes, and mental health support throughout the current pandemic. Those who have lost their jobs, their homes, their families, come to the home of the Tommy, the Royal British Legion Industries for help.
John Reddington, managing director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We are proud to support the Tommy Club by erecting the figures at our developments in Derbyshire.
“Not only will the funding help to support the fantastic work they are doing, the figures will also encourage our staff and residents to take a moment of reflection for those who served for our freedom.”
Tommy Club figures can be found in the garden of Barratt Homes’ Mickleover development, whilst David Wilson Homes will be displaying the figures at Drakelow Park in Drakelow and Rambler’s Gate in Ashbourne.
