TOP MARKS FOR HILTON

Hilton has gained a first in Cambridge with the opening of The Fellows House Cambridge, above, Hilton’s first Curio Collection hotel in the historic university city.

A short walk from the city centre and the River Cam, its 131 rooms range from studios to one-bedroom apartments and duplexes, all named after people associated with the city or notable Cambridge fellows such as Kipling, Newton, Gormley and Attenborou­gh.

CLEMENTINE’S IN FULL BLOOM

Billed as “Parisian chic meets Yorkshire heritage”, Clementine’s York has opened in the heart of the city after a £1million refurb.

A full blossom tree decorated with purple neon lights, above, takes centre stage in the reception while each of its 28 rooms are designed in bold colours and patterns, featuring period furniture alongside pop art artwork and neon lighting.

The unexpected highlight has to be the Nordic-inspired ski lodge complete with heated tiled spa seat, spa shower and a terrace with views of the hotel’s charming Victorian walled garden.
