The Wurzels are coming to town!

- By TRACEY CHADWICK editorial@burtonmail.co.uk

COMBINE harvester driving legends The Wurzels are to perform outdoors in Burton tomorrow at the National Forest Adventure Farm’s Sounds of Summer festival-style music event.

A spokeswoman for the farm said sales had been “doing really well”, but that there were still tickets available.

The Wurzels are one of six acts performing at a series of live music nights set in 40 acres of open countryside.

The National Forest Adventure Farm, in Tatenhill, has launched the event for the first time this year and aims to provide something for everyone.

Shows so far have been A Night at the Musicals with The Barricade Boys, Disco Inferno and The Best of Queen with Majesty, a tribute to the music legends.

Now it is the Wurzels’ turn, and who can forget their chart toppers The Combine Harvester and I Am a Cider Drinker!, which they performed on Top of the Pops, a programme our older readers may recall. Tom Robinson, who owns the National Forest Adventure Farm with brother Ivor, said: “There is nothing like listening to live music in the great outdoors. Sharing food and drink with friends while sitting back and relaxing in the fresh open air is just such an experience and one we are excited to be able to offer here at the farm.

“This will be the first event that has brought together such an eclectic mix of music tastes, providing an evening of live entertainment on each of the six nights with the professional stage placed on a natural slope to allow a great view for our guests.”

Doors open at 6pm for a 7pm start. Festival street foods including wood fired pizzas and a grill are all available, as well as a licensed bar.

Tickets cost £18 with a gazebo upgrade at £40 for a maximum of six people to include a gazebo and picnic table. For more information, visit www.adventurefarm.co.uk/ event/soundsofsummer/
