A FUND-RAISER IS BEING HELD TO RAISE MONEY FOR SPECIAL TREATMENT IN AMERICA

A BOXING glove signed by heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua is among prizes up for grabs at a family fun day in aid of a child with a rare genetic condition.

Three-year-old Teddy

Smith, from Swadlincote, has Aicardi-goutières Syndrome (AGS), which impacts his brain and immune system.

Before the coronavirus pandemic began, parents Rob and Kelly were taking trips to America twice a year for treatment.

They have to give Teddy a number of different therapies, including physio and speech and language therapy.

Now, an event will be taking place at The Albion pub, in Shobnall Road, Burton, tomorrow between 12pm and 8pm to raise money for Teddy’s treatment.

The day will include raffling off prizes from boxing champion Anthony Joshua and shorts signed by Burton’s own Olympian Frazer Clarke. There will also be football boots signed by Derby County captain Tom Lawrence and tickets to see Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium. Lee White and Paul Fletcher will also attend after a bike ride from John O’groats to Lands End to raise money for the boy.

There will be live music from three singers, a DJ, craft stalls and a makers’ market, as well as carnival games for children such as hook a duck and lucky dip.

The event costs £1 for entry. To donate to the fund, visit the family’s Crowdfunding page at www. justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ tour-de-ted
