A BURTON musician who suffers with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has told how he struggled during the pandemic, but made it through and is now in a better place.

Craig Gould, who lives in Shobnall, spent 10 years playing in a band, supporting top acts such as The Levellers and Ocean Colour Scene.

Due to the pandemic he admits he found it tough adjusting to the new “normal” and day to day survival was getting difficult. However, with the help of increased medication and meditation he turned the corner, he says.

On September 15, he will be releasing his new single, Ain’t No Place To Hide, with all profits going to mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

Craig, 38, said: “I have been up and down due to the pandemic and it did really affect me mentally.

“Firstly adjusting to the new normal, wearing a mask and little things like queuing up for the supermarket would trigger my anxiety and I was finding it hard.

“I had just managed to get my head around it to all of sudden we are allowed to not wear masks, which personally has happened a bit to quickly for me also triggered my anxiety.

“The album along with medication, and fresh air has really helped me and I think it was a sensible choice to ask for help and increase

my mediation.

“I am self-employed so the pressures of being self-employed and looking after a young family did catch up with me and to be honest I am in a much better place then where I was four weeks ago.

“I want to support CALM as I know how difficult it can be to get help from the NHS.

“The waiting times are very long and sometimes it can be months before you get seen, which is nothing to do with the NHS, it’s just how it is currently.

“Hopefully once the single is released people will understand the story behind why I have chosen to support CALM and will contribute towards the cause.”
