UTTOXETER’S Olympic hero Adam Peaty has opened up on how he came to meet girlfriend Eiri Munro.

The 26-year-old has revealed he met his partner on dating app Tinder and after just two months of dating, Eiri discovered she was pregnant.

The happy couple’s first child, George-anderson Adetola Peaty, was born in September 2020.

Peaty was speaking to The Time Magazine as he continues to wow judges on BBC show Strictly Come Dancing. The Olympic 100m breaststroke champion was asked how he and Eiri met, to which he replied: “Tinder”.

Last April, the lovebirds announced their baby joy on social media and they later confirmed their little one’s gender. Peaty has previously opened up about how becoming a father has inspired him when it comes to swimming.

The sports star explained that having a son makes him appreciate everything that little bit more.

“I think having a son now as well has just made me appreciate these moments a little bit more.

“He’s with me every single day anyway in my mind when I’m away from him and with him,” Adam said.

“I perform and train like they’re on my back and I like that. It’s just being a father, right? I love it.”

Peaty, who is partnered up with professional dancer Katya Jones, has taken Strictly by storm since his debut last month.

The athlete has proved that he is not just skilled when it comes to swimming as he mastered an incredible Cha Cha Cha dance on the first episode of the hit BBC One competition. Peaty and Jones scored the second-highest mark of the 15 couples on the night – but the high scores come with a big price.

Earlier this week, Peaty took to social media to reveal he “couldn’t walk” after intensive training and rehearsals with Katya.

The swimmer said his partner pushed him to the limit in a bid to ensure they reached high scores.

The gold medallist said he was suffering from “very, very, very sore feet” and had woken up thinking: “I don’t think I can walk today, never mind dance.

“I literally can’t move at the end of the day. I’m aware this is a once-ina-lifetime opportunity and I want to make the most of it.”
