Driver caught behind wheel three times while serving roads ban

A MAN caught driving while banned on three occasions has been jailed.

Gary Briggs, of Lincoln Way, Midway, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrate­s’ Court where he admitted a total of seven charges.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta in Darklands Road, Swadlincot­e, on July 12, while banned from driving and without insurance.

He admitted failing to stop for an officer in Ashby Road East, Bretby, on August 10. He also admitted driving that vehicle while banned and without insurance.

He also admitted taking the vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Briggs also admitted driving a Land Rover Discovery in Swadlincot­e on August 31 while banned from driving.

Briggs also pleaded guilty to breaching a post sentence supervisio­n requiremen­t by failing to attend an appointmen­t three times.

He has been jailed for 26 weeks, ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge and was banned from driving for two years.

Kathryn Claxton, 22, of Postern Road, Tatenhill, admitted driving a Peugeot 308 in Kings Bromley Road,

Alrewas, on August 28, with 58 microgramm­es of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgramm­es.

She has been fined £230, ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge. She was banned from driving for 15 months.

Luke Diskin, 34, of Regent Street, Swadlincot­e, admitted breaching a post sentence supervisio­n requiremen­t on September 15 by failing to attend his induction appointmen­t.

He has been jailed for 14 days. Claudiu Durac, 38, of St Peter’s Street, Stapenhill, was convicted of using a Vauxhall in Castle Road, Swadlincot­e, on May 1, 2020 without insurance. He has been fined £375, ordered to pay £110 court costs and a £37 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for six months.

Thomas Fairbrothe­r, 32, of Wilkins Drive, Derby, was convicted of using an Audi in Burton Road, Castle Gresley, on May 5, 2020, without insurance and while banned from driving. He was given a 14-week jail sentence suspended for 12 months due to repeat offending.

He was ordered to pay £150 court costs and a £128 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for four months.

Anthony Brewell, 32, of Liversage Road, Derby, admitted stealing items worth £95 from Poundland, Uttoxeter, on April 18, 2020.

He also admitted stealing aquarium treatment products worth £100.93 from Pets and at Home, Uttoxeter, on April 14, 2020.

He was given a 12-month community order with 120 hours unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £100.93 compensati­on.

Lewis Bakewell, 31, of Common Road, Church Gresley, admitted assaulting a man in Burton on August 6. He was given a four-month community order with four-month curfew. He was ordered to pay £100 compensati­on, £85 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
