Teachers and emergency workers given priority

FAMILY-RUN FUEL STATION OFF A38 MAKES PRIORITY PLEDGE AFTER PANIC BUYING

TEACHERS, along with emergency workers, will be given priority when they fill up at a family-run Staffordshire petrol station.

The JT Leavesley Ivy Gulf garage in Rykneld Street, Alrewas, has pledged to prioritise fuel supplies so police, medics, firefighters and teachers can fill up first after panic buying gripped the forecourts and led to shortages at the pumps.

Supplies have been much better in Staffordshire area this week, but there have still been some shortages.

The Gulf garage is owned by The Leavesley Group and says it wants to ensure emergency services and teachers can continue to work by offering them priority fuel and has assured them they will not be stranded in queues. The garage says essential workers will need identification to be given priority at its pumps.

Ma n a g i n g director James Leavesley said: “We are a f a m i l y - run business and care a great deal about the welfare and wellbeing of our community. Our emergency services workers do a fantastic job keeping people safe and delivering urgent, life-saving care and it is important we play our part in keeping them mobile and ready to respond. “Essential workers, who bring correct identification, who use our garage can rest assured they will not be stranded or face lengthy queues for fuel. We will prioritise their needs and place them first and foremost when it comes to topping up their supplies so they can continue to deliver their vital care.”

For teachers to be given priority, they just need to show school ID at the garage, said Mr Leavesley.

We are a family-run business and care a great deal about the welfare and wellbeing of our community. James Leavesley
