JAPANESE car giant Toyota is on the lookout for workers at its manufacturing site in Derby – and is offering a special incentive to those who are successful.

The company, which is one of the region’s largest employers, is looking for “car production operatives” to join it on a full-time, permanent basis at its site in Burnaston, with a salary of more than £26,000 a year.

The role is based on the production line working on the most recent Toyota Corolla line of vehicles, as well as the Suzuki Swace, based on the Corolla estate.

Thirty-six positions are available, according to Derby Jobcentre.

And to add extra incentive to the successful candidates, new recruits will also benefit from a £1,000 bonus when they complete three months with the business.

According to the job advert, it reads: “The client is one of the leading automotive brands, who puts respect for their people and continuous improvement at the forefront of their values.

“The position is permanent, fulltime with a minimum of 39 hours per week, plus up to two hours mandatory overtime per shift. £1,000 loyalty bonus paid over the first three months of employment.

“Previous assembly or mechanical experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. Shifts rotating weekly and weekend working mandatory (when called upon).”

The advert states that responsibilities will include working on a repetitive, fast-paced automotive production line, a strong eye for detail, enthusiasm to learn and develop within the company as well as punctual and flexible to company needs.

The pay rates and hours of work, according to the jobs advert, will be up to £13.13 per hour (including shift premium), Additional Shift Allowance/overtime payments. It says that “earlies” will be 5.45am to 2.18pm and “afternoons” will be 3.05pm to

11.38pm.

Toyota said the new jobs are part of the company’s “regular recruitment process”.

Toyota is the world’s eighth biggest company by revenue and has its UK headquarters, Toyota Manufacturing UK, just outside the village of Burnaston on the A38.

Benefits listed as part of the role include an annual bonus scheme, 25 days of paid holiday, staff canteen and a lottery scheme where employees could win a car.
