Global giant chooses Burton firm to help upgrade food sector

TECHNOLOGY PARTNERSHI­P TO BOOST PRODUCTIVI­TY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN THE FOOD AND DRINK INDUSTRY

A BURTON engineerin­g firm has been selected by technology giant Siemens to help boost productivi­ty in the food and drink sector.

Briggs of Burton, in Derby Street, has been chosen along with several other engineerin­g companies with technologi­cal expertise to upgrade equipment in the industry which had a turnover of more than £104.4 billion in 2020 and represents almost 20 per cent of total UK manufactur­ing.

The industry is now adopting cutting-edge solutions that will boost productivi­ty and improve energy efficiency to help combat climate change.

Siemens has for decades been at the forefront of helping this sector with its technology solutions and has enhanced its Solution Partner Programme for the specific needs of the sector.

Along with Briggs of Burton, it has chosen adi Automation – part of adi Group, CG Controls Ltd, DPS Group, itech Ltd, Kigtek Solutions Ltd and Rockbrook Engineerin­g Ltd due to their specific process knowledge, and technology capability.

Briggs of Burton has an extensive history in designing and building industrial process systems across the brewing, distilling, food and pharma industries, Siemens said.

This joint partnershi­p is expected to bring about energy reduction initiative­s.

The company says the revamped Solution Partner Programme will bring to the table a whole gamut of offerings, including automation integratio­n concepts, process optimisati­on, cloud and data analytics and energy reduction initiative­s.
